Zebra ZT421 Label Printer (ZT42162-T0EC000Z)

The Zebra ZT421 is a 6-inch industrial label printer from Zebra's ZT400 Series, built for round-the-clock labelling in manufacturing, warehouses, transport and logistics, retail distribution and healthcare. Its metal frame and space-saving bi-fold metal door fit into tight spaces, and the 4.3-inch colour touch display makes setup and daily operation simple. As a thermal transfer printer that also prints direct thermal, it handles durable labels on paper and synthetic materials as well as ribbon-free shipping labels. It prints sharp 203 dpi labels up to 168 mm wide at up to 305 mm/s (12 ips). This version, ZT42162-T0EC000Z, has a tear-off bar for manual label removal; it connects via USB 2.0, two USB Host ports, RS-232 serial, Ethernet 10/100 and Bluetooth, plus a factory-installed dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) card. EU and UK power cords are included; the USB interface cable must be ordered separately.

Key Features

• Industrial build, compact footprint – all-metal frame and bi-fold metal media cover with a large clear window; carbon-fibre reinforced gears and a long-life printhead coating keep it running for years, while the bi-fold door needs far less space than a swing-out door.
• 4.3-inch colour touch display – intuitive icon menus, setup wizards and colour-coded alerts that are visible from a distance; side-loading, colour-coded media path with lighted guides for fast media and ribbon changes.
• Thermal transfer and direct thermal – 450 m ribbons mean fewer changes; print smudge-proof, long-life labels on paper, polyester and polypropylene, or switch to direct thermal for short-life labels.
• Tear-off – upgrade any time – cutter, peeler and liner take-up kits can be installed in minutes when your process changes.
• Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 + Bluetooth – wireless network printing over 802.11ac plus USB 2.0, two USB Host ports, RS-232 and Ethernet 10/100; the second open slot takes a parallel, Ethernet or applicator card.
• Drops into any fleet – ZPL and EPL support, plus Print DNA Virtual Devices to run label formats written for other printer brands.
• Easy to manage – Link-OS and Zebra Print DNA with Printer Profile Manager Enterprise and MDM connectors (AirWatch, SOTI); Print Touch (NFC) tap-to-pair and ENERGY STAR qualification.

Ideal Applications

• Manufacturing – work-in-process, product ID and serial number labels, package labelling, receiving and put-away
• Transport and logistics – order picking and packing, shipping and receiving, cross-docking and compliance labels
• Retail – distribution centres and back-of-store operations
• Healthcare – laboratory, blood bank, pharmacy and asset tracking labels
• Chemicals – GHS / CLP hazard labels on durable synthetic materials

Technical Specifications

Which ZT400 printer should you choose? The ZT411 prints up to 104 mm wide and is available in 203, 300 and 600 dpi; the ZT421 prints up to 168 mm wide for large labels such as A5 shipping or GHS drum labels (203 or 300 dpi). 203 dpi suits most barcodes and shipping labels, 300 dpi gives crisper small text and 2D codes, and 600 dpi is designed for tiny labels on electronics and components. Then pick the media handling – tear-off, peeler, peeler with liner take-up, rewinder, cutter or linerless – and Wi-Fi or RFID if you need it.
