Print Latvijas Pasts labels on a thermal label printer (100×150)

Latvijas Pasts creates shipping labels in its business portals and official webshop modules; you print them yourself. Here is how to print them full size on 100×150 mm labels with a Zebra, TSC or Honeywell thermal printer.

Before you start

Latvijas Pasts has two online tools for business senders:

• express.pasts.lv, the business client portal, which Latvijas Pasts also calls EKIS. Here you prepare Domestic express, EMS and Baltic Express shipments under "Sagatavot sūtījumus" (Prepare postal items) and finish with "Noslēgt sūtījuma reģistrāciju" (Complete postal item registration). When you hand over two or more shipments at once, each one needs an address label, which you can print from EKIS.
• Mans Pasts (mans.pasts.lv, business login at manspasts.lv), the self-service system for letters, small packets and parcels, including registered and insured items. You print the documents it prepares and attach them to the item.

The official webshop modules add delivery to parcel lockers (pakomāti) in Latvia and across the Baltics, to post offices in Latvia and Lithuania and by courier.

Check the label file

1. Create the shipment and open the label file the portal or module gives you.
2. Look up the page size in your PDF reader's document properties.
3. Label-sized page (100×150 mm, or A6 at 105×148 mm): print it on the thermal printer as described in the next steps.
4. A4 or A5 page with the label on part of it: fitting the whole page onto a 100×150 mm label shrinks everything, on A4 to less than half size, and the barcodes may not scan. Print these on an office printer, or ask Latvijas Pasts for a label printer format.

Accompanying forms such as EKS, CP 71 or E 1 are documents, not labels, and some are needed in several copies. Print them as the portal gives them.

Load 100×150 mm labels and calibrate

Shipping labels are direct thermal: they print without ribbon. Our 100×150 mm labels, 500 pcs come on a 40 mm core and the eco labels, 1,000 pcs on a 76 mm core. Check that the core and roll diameter fit your printer: the Zebra ZD421, for example, takes 76 mm cores with Zebra's core adapters, and the TSC DA210 and DA220 only with the external roll mount. The 40 mm core isn't on TSC's or Honeywell's core list, and Honeywell doesn't list 76 mm cores for the PC42E either, so ask us which roll suits your printer.

Load the roll with the printable side facing the printhead, then calibrate so the printer learns the 150 mm label length: see Zebra ZD421 calibration, TSC DA210/DA220 calibration or Honeywell PC42E calibration.

Set 100×150 mm in the printer driver

Without the label size in the driver, Windows sends an A4 page and the label comes out tiny or cut off.

• Zebra: in the ZDesigner driver's Printing preferences, set the label to 100 mm wide and 150 mm high under Media Settings on the Page Setup tab, and Printing mode to Thermal Direct under Print Options.
• TSC: TSC's Windows driver is made with Seagull Scientific. Open Printing preferences › Page Setup, click New under Stock, enter 100 mm width and 150 mm height, click OK and select the new stock.
• Honeywell: in the InterDriver printing preferences, set the label width and height to 100 and 150 mm.

Print the label at the right scale

1. Open the label file, choose Print and select your thermal printer. The paper size should show 100×150 mm.
2. If the PDF page is exactly 100×150 mm (4×6 in), print at actual size (100 %).
3. For any other label-sized page, such as A6, choose Fit to page (the name varies between programs) so no edge is cut off. Never shrink an A4 or A5 sheet onto one label.
4. Choose portrait, or let the program pick the orientation.
5. Print one label and scan every barcode before printing a batch.

Print labels from your webshop

Latvijas Pasts publishes official modules for Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Magento and Mozello, plus an API for high-volume shops. The modules print shipment labels from the e-shop admin; Latvijas Pasts calls this "Drukā uzlīmes savā e-veikalā" (Print labels in your e-shop). Their documentation doesn't name a label size, so check the first file as in step 1.

• Shopify: the app Pasts Shipping by Latvijas Pasts. In the app, open "Orders", click "Get orders" to sync your Shopify orders, open an order with "View", click "New package", fill in the package details and click "Create". "Sticker" then prints the delivery label. More in Shopify shipping labels on a thermal printer.
• WooCommerce: two plugins, "Pasts Courier & Locker" for parcel lockers, service points and courier delivery, and Pasts MansPasts for letters, small packets and parcels. For Pasts MansPasts, enter your API user and key under WooCommerce › Settings › Shipping › Pasts MansPasts; labels and manifests are then created from your orders. • PrestaShop: "Register Order" creates the label, then "Download label". For several orders (module version 1.0.3 or later), choose "Pasts - Print labels" under Bulk actions, then "Get Labels" and "Download labels".
