The Newland FM60 Cubera AI is a fixed-mount 2D scanner with a medium-size scan window for building into self-service kiosks, checkout counters, ticket machines and access gates. Newland's UIMG® imaging and AI-powered barcode detection (AIBD), running on a multi-core processing platform, decode 1D and 2D barcodes quickly and reliably – including wrinkled, distorted, reflective and curved codes – while the wide viewing angle and high motion tolerance (over 2 m/s) capture items as soon as they approach the window. Built-in OCR also reads text from passports and ID documents, and Digimarc digital watermarks are supported. IP52 sealing and a 5-year (60-month) Newland warranty. This version, NLS-FM6080V2-U12, is the USB kit: it is supplied with a 1.2 m USB cable – ready to plug in and scan, powered via USB, no power supply needed.
📦 What's in the box – NLS-FM6080V2-U12
- ✅ Newland FM60 Cubera AI fixed-mount scanner – black, 114 × 94 × 46 mm, medium-size scan window; 10-pin data connector for USB and RS-232 (depending on the cable)
- ✅ USB cable (CBL-0164U) – 1.2 m, USB-A to 10-pin connector – plugs into the scanner's data connector and a USB port on your PC, kiosk computer or POS; the scanner is powered via USB
- ❌ Power supply – not needed – the scanner is powered via USB
- ❌ Mounting screws / brackets – not included – the scanner is fitted into your own kiosk, counter or panel
💡 No stand needed – the FM60 Cubera AI is built into your kiosk, counter or panel (see the dimensions drawing in the Newland user guide). Please note: the FM60 uses its own 10-pin cable connector, so the RJ cables of other Newland FM/FR scanners do not fit. For a serial connection use the Newland RS-232 cable (CBL-0173R) (RS-232 also needs an external 5 V power supply); a spare USB cable is the Newland USB cable (CBL-0164U).
Key Features
- AI-powered decoding – Newland's UIMG® technology with AI-powered barcode detection (AIBD) reads 1D and 2D barcodes, postal codes and Digimarc digital watermarks, and delivers excellent results on wrinkled, reflective, curved and damaged codes.
- OCR built in – advanced OCR extracts text from passports and ID documents with high accuracy – ideal for hotel check-in, age verification and identity checks at self-service terminals.
- Multi-core processing platform – powerful computing for faster and more stable decoding, even with data-rich codes on smartphone screens.
- Wide viewing angle, high motion tolerance – a 65.6° × 44.6° field of view and a motion tolerance of over 2 m/s capture items as soon as they come close to the window, which keeps checkouts and queues moving.
- Six status indicators – a multi-colour LED shows initialisation and configuration, good reads, configuration results, transmission alarms and faults, making troubleshooting in unattended kiosks easy.
- Easy integration – USB (HID keyboard, USB CDC virtual COM, HID-POS, IBM SurePOS) or RS-232 with automatic interface detection; 5–12 VDC input, EasySet configuration tool, IP52 sealing and a 5-year Newland warranty.
Ideal Applications
- Retail self-checkouts and POS counters – built in for fast scanning of goods, coupons and loyalty codes
- Self-service kiosks and ticket machines – mobile tickets, e-vouchers and payment QR codes
- Hotel check-in and identity checks – passport and ID document OCR at self-service terminals
