Print Omniva labels on a thermal label printer (100×150)

Omniva delivers to pakiautomaadid (parcel machines) and by courier in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Its shipping label is called an address card (aadresskaart). Here is how to get it as a single label and print it on a Zebra, TSC or Honeywell thermal printer with a barcode that scans.

Before you start

Omniva delivers address cards as PDF files, from the e-service as well as its API and e-shop modules. Omniva doesn't document a printer-language format such as ZPL, so you print through the printer's Windows driver. Omniva doesn't publish the card's size in millimetres, so check the PDF page size before the first print (step 3).

Use direct thermal labels, which need no ribbon. In our label titles, "40 g" and "76 g" mean the core diameter in mm, not the weight. Check core and roll diameter against your printer's specification: a Zebra ZD220 or ZD230 takes rolls up to 127 mm on 12.7 or 25.4 mm cores (38.1 mm with adapters), so 1,000-label rolls on a 76 mm core need a printer or roll holder made for that core.

Choose "Label printer" in the business client e-service

Business customers create address cards in the business client e-service (ärikliendi e-teenindus) at business.omniva.eu. Menu names below are as in Omniva's English help.

1. On the e-service main page, open "Register parcels" and choose "Shipments list".
2. Select the shipments you want to print.
3. Tick "I would like a delivery note".
4. Click "Print" and choose "Label printer", not "Multiple on one page".
5. A PDF with the address cards of all shipments in the list is created and downloaded.

Set up the printer for 100×150 mm labels

If Windows doesn't know the label size, it sends an A4 page and the card comes out tiny or cut off. Load the labels, calibrate, then set the size once in the driver:

• Zebra (ZD220, ZD230, ZD421, ZD621, ZT231, ZT411): in the ZDesigner driver's Printing preferences, set 100×150 mm under Page Setup and Thermal Direct as printing mode. See Print 100×150 mm shipping labels on Zebra.
• TSC (DA210, DA220, TE200, TE210, MH241): in the TSC Windows driver, open Printing preferences › Page Setup, click New under Stock and create a 100×150 mm stock. See Print shipping labels on TSC printers.
• Honeywell (PC42E-T, PC42E-D): set the label size in the InterDriver printing preferences. See Print shipping labels on the Honeywell PC42E.

On a thermal transfer model, set the print method to direct thermal for labels without ribbon; thermal transfer labels need a ribbon.

Print the address card PDF at the right size

1. Open the PDF and check its page size, for example in your PDF reader's document properties.
2. Choose Print and select the label printer. The paper size should show 100×150 mm.
3. If the PDF page is 100×150 mm, print at actual size (100 %). Otherwise choose the option that fits the page to the paper (fit, fit to page or shrink to printable area), which Zebra recommends for PDFs.
4. Choose portrait, or let the program pick the orientation.
5. Print and scan one card before the whole list.

Pale barcode: raise darkness one step at a time in the driver or lower the speed. Bars running together: lower the darkness.

Print from your e-shop with Omniva's modules

Attach the address card

• Stick the card on the largest flat side, in the same direction as the parcel's longest side.
• Don't fold the card over an edge, wrinkle it or put tape over the barcode.
• Remove or cover old address cards and barcodes on reused boxes: each parcel may carry only one barcode.
