Print DHL eCommerce Poland (DHL24) labels on a thermal printer

DHL eCommerce Polska, formerly DHL Parcel Polska, delivers domestic parcels in Poland by courier, to DHL POP points and to DHL BOX 24/7 lockers. Business customers create labels in the DHL24 web app. Its 10×15 cm label prints on a Zebra, TSC or Honeywell thermal printer, on standard 100×150 mm labels.

Before you start

DHL24 is in Polish, so the names below are given in Polish with an English explanation. DHL calls its shipping label "etykieta BLP" and offers it in four formats:

10×15 cm is the same size as 100×150 mm (4×6 in). Use direct thermal labels (no ribbon). In our label titles, "40 g" and "76 g" mean the core diameter in mm, not the weight. Check the core and roll diameter against your printer's specification before you order.

Choose the BLP label format in DHL24

1. Log in to DHL24 and click your name in the top right corner to open the account menu.
2. Open "Zmiana etykiety wydruku" (change the print label).
3. Choose "Etykieta BLP PDF" for a thermal label printer.

Choose "Etykieta BLP ZPL" only if you already send ZPL files straight to your printer, for example from shipping software. DHL's manual doesn't describe how the ZPL file reaches the printer, so the PDF is the simpler choice. Zebra printers speak ZPL; TSC printers and the Honeywell PC42E emulate it. Pick the 300 dpi option only for a 300 dpi printer.

Set up the printer for 100×150 mm labels

If Windows doesn't know the label size, it sends an A4 page and the label comes out tiny or cut off. Load the labels, calibrate, then set the size once in the driver:

• Zebra (ZD220, ZD230, ZD421, ZD621, ZT231, ZT411): in the ZDesigner driver's Printing preferences, set 100×150 mm under Page Setup and Thermal Direct as printing mode. See Print 100×150 mm shipping labels on Zebra.
• TSC (DA210, DA220, TE200, TE210, MH241): in the TSC Windows driver, open Printing preferences › Page Setup, click New under Stock and create a 100×150 mm stock. See Print shipping labels on TSC printers.
• Honeywell (PC42E-T, PC42E-D): set the label size in the InterDriver printing preferences. See Print shipping labels on the Honeywell PC42E.

On a thermal transfer model, set the print method to direct thermal for labels without ribbon. DHL's own video (in Polish) covers thermal printer setup and calibration; its description names the Zebra GK420D as one of the printers DHL's customers use most. Print labels from DHL24

1. Create the shipment and save it with the label print. For a parcel you drop off, choose "Drukuję i nadam w punkcie" (print and drop off at a DHL POP point or DHL BOX). For a pickup, choose "Drukuję i zamów kuriera" (print and order a courier).
2. To reprint, or to print many labels at once, open the "Moje paczki" (my parcels) tab. Tick up to 100 shipments for bulk printing, or use the printer icon in that tab.
3. Open the PDF, choose Print and select the label printer. The paper size should show 100×150 mm.
4. The BLP page is already 10×15 cm, so print at actual size (100 %). DHL's help asks for "Faktyczny rozmiar" (actual size) with automatic portrait or landscape, not "Dopasuj" (fit).
5. Print one label and scan its barcodes before you print the rest.

Pale barcode: raise darkness one step at a time in the driver or lower the speed. Bars running together: lower the darkness.

Print from your webshop

DHL lists free plugins for WooCommerce, Shopify, PrestaShop and Magento, plus many other integrations such as BaseLinker and Apilo, on its integrations page. For the WooCommerce plugin, DHL asks for an active DHL24 account, your customer number and API keys, which you generate yourself in DHL24.

• WooCommerce: the "DHL eCommerce (Poland)" plugin has a label format setting in its "Ustawienia" (settings) tab, section "Etykiety" (labels): BLP (PDF 10×15 cm), LBLP (PDF A4), ZBLP (ZPL) or ZBLP300 (ZPL 300 dpi). Choose BLP. "Pobierz etykietę" (download label) then downloads the PDF for the order.
• Shopify: the "DHL eCommerce (Poland)" app is in Polish. Its listing doesn't describe label formats, so check the PDF size of the first label.
• API: DHL24 WebAPI returns the same formats as label types BLP, LBLP, ZBLP and ZBLP300.
