The Zebra ET401 is a rugged enterprise Android tablet built for people who need a bigger screen than a handheld can give them — warehouse supervisors working in a WMS, field service engineers filling in reports, drivers running delivery apps, and anyone mounting a device in a vehicle. Most models are sealed to IP68, which means dust-tight and protected against immersion, not just splashes.
Tablet or handheld terminal?
This is the decision worth making before anything else.
- Choose a tablet when the screen is the job: forms, floor plans, WMS screens, signature capture, photos, or a vehicle-mounted app the driver reads at a glance.
- Choose a handheld when scanning is the job: thousands of scans per shift, one-handed use, a trigger that takes the strain. A tablet scans well, but it isn't a pistol grip.
Many warehouses run both — tablets on forklifts and at supervisor desks, handhelds in the aisles.

If you are not sure whether you need a built-in scanner, consider how often staff scan. Occasional scanning works fine with a paired Bluetooth reader; constant scanning is better with the imager built in.
Screen size and sealing
The ET401 range covers 8-inch and 10-inch versions — the batteries and rugged boots we stock come in both sizes. The 8-inch is easier to hold and carry; the 10-inch suits vehicle mounts and detailed screens like floor plans or WMS layouts.
Sealing differs between part numbers: most ET401 models are IP68 rated, while some are IP65. If the tablet will work outdoors, in wash-down areas or anywhere it might be submerged, confirm the rating on the product page before ordering.
Accessories worth planning for
Two things are worth ordering with the tablet rather than after:
Rugged boot. A tablet is a large flat object that gets put down on concrete and picked up with one hand. The protective boot is the difference between a cracked corner in month three and a device that lasts its full life. We stock boots for both 8" and 10".
Spare battery. ET401 batteries are internal and available separately for both screen sizes — useful for multi-shift operations and for keeping older units running rather than replacing them.
